ConvertSwift eliminates this vector entirely. Our tools utilize advanced Web APIs to perform every conversion locally inside your own browser tab. Once the page is loaded, you can even disconnect from the internet completely; your documents never leave your machine.
Technology Powering Phase 2
How do we accomplish this? We utilize the cutting-edge power of modern web technology:
- WebAssembly (WASM): Runs high-performance compiled binary applications (like ffmpeg and rust modules) directly in the browser at near-native speeds.
- Canvas API: Manipulates and compresses images locally with high precision and customization options.
- JavaScript File System APIs: Read, slice, parse, and write binary payloads securely on your hardware.
Sustainable & Green
Running files through servers consumes enormous amounts of network bandwidth and server electricity. By shifting computation to the user's processor (client-side), we reduce server energy waste, decrease network traffic footprint, and allow the service to be 100% free and sustainable.
